The Nikon D40x is easy to use yet produces professional-quality images. I haven't really tried low-light photography yet, but I expect it to be quite good in those situations. A lens hood and a cool leathery pouch are included, which is nice. The lens hood is very useful for protection, just leave it on there all the time. If you need to store the camera in a bag, you can put the hood the other way around to save space. Given the price compared to other lenses, I'd say it's a good investment. It's also good for a beginner like me, because it really helps me understand and play with ISO, aperture and shutter speed to change the result.
It also forces you to think about the composition, because everything has to fit and it's sometimes good to remove the unnecessary things from the frame. I'm still not even remotely good, but it's definitely helping me to get better at photography. I was focused on all the listings that gave a shutter count as most of the big names in cameras like Nikon and Canon, Sony and so on display a shutter count on the camera's that are like a milage reading on an automobile, these "shutter counts" are tamper-proof and are virtually impossible to reset as this is the way it should be with very high end cameras.
Shutter counts pretty much give you an idea of how much wear and tear the shutter motor and components have been through in the current life of the camera.
Cameras like Canon and Nikon can endure 50 thousand to 's of thousands of shutter clicks before you need to replace the shutter or have it tended to by a certified technician. When I received my camera I was shocked to see a shutter count of only , absolutely incredible to find a camera like this with such a low use.
There is not much one can say what has not already been said. This camera's resolution, DR, color spectrum, sharpness is amazing. DR is better than any camera out there includes mid format. It is a bit heavy but worth it. As far as sharpness it thumps my D camera I also own and love.

The camera I bought was the best price I could find. When they shipped, I realized it was coming from the US - so I raised the issue about warranty. Turns out the warranty was through them, and they are not an authorized Nikon dealer. When pushed some more, they said the warranty was for 1 year, whereas Nikon normally has a 2 year warranty.
I returned the camera and purchased it locally, where I could have solutions if a problem arises. In the past I have had problems with my pop up flash, and the spot metering. The camera itself is a dream. The pictures it takes is absolutely stunning.
